~Backstory~
Neil was born into a loving family, he was an only child and due to a few incidents in the family his parents were extremely caring and protective of him, making him a bit spoiled in the process. However he remained a kind child. His younger years were simple, he lived in the smaller town section of the city and went to school and high school there. During his elementary school years he met Dane Locke who became his best friend. Later in high school the two also befriended Maxine "Max" Ranger, the self appointed guard of the school. It was also during that time that his flirtatious nature started blooming, leaving a few broken hearts in his wake.

Sadly Neil lost touch with his friends once he left for university, moving deeper into the city. Somewhat following in his father's footsteps he decided to study to become a pharmacist. One day during detention he befriended Rika Avene and they soon became partners in mischief. He was 18 at that time and continued capturing the hearts of other boys, being rather handsome himself it gained him a lot of compliments, though people would argue his ego was big enough as it is. Despite being quite the party animal he kept himself disciplined when it came to his studies, so four years later he graduated with a master's degree in chemistry.

After that he moved to the city's center, applying for internships at laboratories and eventually landing a solid job within the next two years. During that time he continued to have meaningless flings, up until he met Will Avery Jones. What started as a one night stand turned into friends with benefits and eventually the two started dating for real. Neil was truly happy and content during that time, and he cared enough for Will to not feel the need to flirt around with others. Will had brought out a kindness in him that had been stashed away for a long time. One year later the two got married, and life was good.

Their marriage lasted two years before Will died in an accident. That was a blow Neil couldn't recover from that easily, it shattered him emotionally, tossing him into deep depression. He might have not made it through if it wasn't for the support of his friends, most of all Rika. However he still lost his job and got some serious debts to deal with, it took him three years to return to a normal state of living, though he still felt the grief of loss. At the age of 30, four years after his husband's death, Neil took a walk one night and in an alley he spotted Will. Truth was that during their marriage Will had been involved in some shady business, but Neil was willing to turn a blind eye on it for the sake of their love. That turned out to be a mistake, Will admitted to have feigned his death to get out of a sticky situation, and also that their marriage was only a way for him to keep a low profile. He did care about Neil, but not as much as he lead the man to believe. Neil was livid and would have likely torn Will apart then and there, but the other was in the company of some fellow goons and they gave Neil quite the beating before leaving him behind in the street.

It was like a new awakening, the depression was gone and Neil's old nature came back with a vengeance. Neil was determined to make Will pay for the betrayal, anonymously sending information to the police. To his great frustration though the man had disappeared once more and not even the law seemed capable of tracking him down. To make matters worse Neil decided to let out his frustration in excess, after wasting four years in that nightmare of a depression he decided to retaliate with the best comeback ever. He was neither sad nor pained by what happened, he was just constantly angry, at his ex, and just the whole world in general. And he let all that anger and frustration out by going through several lovers and drugs, nearly throwing out all the money he had, leaving him with a new heap of debts.

Being fed up with everything, he got in touch with Rika to see if she could get him a job at the escort service she was working for. It was not something he would have considered before, but it was a way to make easy money with something he did anyway on a regular basis, so it was taking down two birds with one stone. To his surprise the job turned out better than he thought it would be, the company was the most prestigious in the city, with a genuinely good reputation. He earned enough money to pay back all his debts, but he decided to continue working as an escort as he'd come to enjoy the job.

One would think that given his past with traitorous criminals he would be more careful with shady people. However one year after starting his work as an escort he hooked up with the boss of one of the most dangerous mafia organizations in the city. And that brought a whole load of new problems.




-Rodger-
Rodger Steele Evans is one of the leading crime lords of the city, his organization is known as one of the most dangerous ones thanks to his ruthless leadership and precision in eliminating enemies. He was exactly the challenge Neil wanted. At first he thought it would still be easy, that he would turn Rodger into a loyal dog without much effort. However the more time they spent together the clearer it became that they were an equal match. It was irritating, but also incredibly exciting. Neil truly enjoys wearing on the man's patience, having figured out where to press and where to back off he was able to play with the man's temper without endangering his own life. However Rodger did know how to catch him off guard from time to time, and it was incredibly frustrating. He wanted to break the man, but by all means he also wanted their game to continue. It's what made things fun.

However a couple years after their first meeting, Neil made a horrible mistake, during a fight that got more out of hand than usual he threatened Rodger with the one thing that really hit home. That by now Neil knew enough to ruin his organization if he wanted to. He never would have done it, but the threat itself was enough to make Rodger shoot Neil. Miraculously enough though, Neil survived, and Rodger was willing to forget the incident. But Neil wasn't, so while Rodger was on a business meeting Neil slipped out and disappeared. He couldn't return to any of his own apartments, so instead he tracked down his old friend Dane and stayed at his place for a few months. During that time he reconnected with his past and came to the conclusion that he cannot hide forever, thus he went out to meet with Rodger again.

Somehow he still lives, he's basically moved in with Rodger and things continued as usual. They are still this odd mixture of enemies and friends, they have their moments but they're still intent on making the other fall. He doesn't quite understand what it is, he only knows it's not love, it can never be love. Neil had lost his capability for that after the fiasco with Will, and Rodger never had it in the first place. And that is how they both like to keep it.

Notes:
- He was not actually the first child his parents were expecting, but his sister, Dianne, was never born due to complications during the pregnancy.
- When he was 10 he brought home a golden retriever puppy that had been abandoned. Despite it being a female he named her Barney. She had been a loyal friend for years and died of old age when he came to visit home from university.
- When he was 31 his father died due to a toxin from a rare parasitic plant that stung him as a child. Neil grieved the loss but due to the mess with Will he was again more angry than sad.
- His father had become a pharmacist for the sake of helping people and finding cures for things like the toxin of the plant he's been infected with. He didn't want more families torn apart due to such things. Neil on the other hand was more fascinated with chemistry itself and the process of creating medicine rather than a genuine wish to help others.
- Most of his grades were average, but things like chemistry were always top since he was genuinely interested in the subject.
- He occasionally helps out in the laboratory of Rodger's organization.
- Has a strict style of makeup he rarely deviates from. Nail polish, eyeliner and lipstick only on the bottom lip, all in black.
- He's become good friends with some of the girls from the escort service. Mostly people from Rika's chick gang. It is them (mostly Calli) who call him Pretty Boy.
- Wildflower is a nickname he got from Rodger.
- Jewel is what one of his regular patrons calls him, the two have never been intimate, the man simply sees Neil as a precious jewel to pretty up his company for the evening.
- He has a mysterious trunk full of questionable things.
- Most people in Rodger's organization don't like him, especially the heads of laboratory and programming. However there isn't much they can do about it.
- Is a total lightweight and thus doesn't drink. Only on rare occasions and even then he barely finishes a glass.
- He mostly makes his own drugs when he has the means to do so. Seems especially fond of hallucinogens but treats everything very carefully since he's afraid of addiction.
- Nowadays he still keeps in touch with Dane, seeing him again after all this time reminded him of how much his old friends still mean to him.
- He used to be interested in romantic relationships, but ever since Will's betrayal he's lost faith in love and becomes bitter whenever the subject is brought up.
- Neil and Rodger don't really know what to call each other, the terms "boyfriend" or even "partner" just not sitting quite right. They also have a semi-open relationship and tend to see other people from time to time.


((This profile follows the "Life goes on" AU of my story which is set on a different planet than Earth although it keeps some similarities. In the true storyline Rodger doesn't hesitate during the argument and Neil dies. But I just like them too much as a couple so I had to give them some universe where they can continue their messed up relationship.))
